Ever since we opened our Norwich shop in 2013, one of the questions we hear the most is “Do you do cookery classes?” Well, we’re delighted to say that yes, we do.
The Macarons & More Cookery School opened in January 2015, thanks to the support of our brilliant sponsors including Belling, Magimix and Kenwood. The cookery school is based in our Norwich bakery, where we make most of our gorgeous treats. It’s the perfect place to come and be inspired by all things sweet.
We run a range of hands-on classes throughout the year, taught by Tim Kinnaird and the Macarons & More team – plus the occasional special guest. Designed to teach keen amateur cooks new skills and recipes, our classes start with the basics and will help you create delicious cakes and bakes at home. We teach small classes of up to eight. Each participant has their own fully-equipped work station, and will receive plenty of one-to-one support throughout the session.

This hands-on session will help you perfect macarons.
Macarons are the supermodels of the cake world. At their best, elegant and indefinable delights; at worst, temperamental divas. Once you have learned here how to keep them on the straight and narrow, you will consistently produce a cake that has helped revolutionise modern patisserie.
During this hands-on session, Tim will help you perfect macaron shells and a variety of fillings. He will cover macarons and fresh fruit-filled large macarons.
Our classes are run in small groups, with each participant having their own workstation, oven, and equipment. We want you to be able to easily replicate the dishes you make when you get home. We, therefore, give you all the recipes to take away and lots of advice on where to source more specialist ingredients and equipment.
Children & Young People
We very much welcome children and young people coming to our classes. However we are not Ofsted registered so an accompanying adult or carer must come with them. The adult does not need to buy a ticket and can wait in our reception room or be with them, whilst the class continues. However, they need to remain on site throughout.
Our tables and equipment are at an adult height so we would not recommend our classes to anyone under the age of 12 attend. However, we are happy for families to make their own minds up about if they feel their child is able to participate fully. We are very happy to talk through this beforehand. I've done two different classes (both still available) at Macarons & More cookery school now and loved both of them. (I'm back for a third soon!).
The salted caramel brownies we made were amazing. The cookies have found a permanent spot in my freezer. The techniques and tips you can pick up from the instructors are so valuable and helpful.
In terms of the day, it's all terribly relaxed and informal. The hidden benefit they don't tell you about, is the tea and cake provided throughout! You will walk away after a delicious lunch with all the tasty treats you've just made. Make sure you're being sociable later that day so you can spread your bounty around!

A friend and I did the pork pie course. Excellent instruction. Really relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Made everything seem so easy. Filled with confidence. Picked up so much knowledge. Pies and sausage rolls we made were perfect. Lunch provided was delicious. Can’t recommend highly enough! Will try other classes.

We booked this baking course “introduction to macaron making” for our teenage daughter’s Christmas present. She is a keen baker and the one thing she wanted to master was making macarons competently and confidently, which the course on Saturday provided in abundance!

Everything you needed for the entire day was measured, weighed and separated ready to be used which was a great addition to make things simple and easy.
Tim was a great coach and there was no rush at all. He provided great tips throughout the course and was really personable, answering questions throughout the day. My daughter was given the skills and freedom to achieve making these delicate little treats with plenty of support and guidance. She learned so much and now feels able to practice at home to perfect her macaron making!
The pace of the day was perfect, the content of the course was spot on and Tim and Sally were the perfect hosts. Lunch was an added bonus at the end, which was totally unexpected as well as a gorgeous little box of macarons made by the experts themselves!

Great experience at the Macaroon baking course. A group of 7 of us went along and it was a great day from start to finish. We were a mix of abilities from newbies to keen bakers and we all made beautiful creations which tasted amazing. Tim was a great teacher really clear and easy to follow. The little cakes with coffee were to die for!

I was lucky enough to be given a macaron course as a Christmas present ! I really didn't know what to expect . My first attempt at making macarons was a disaster . But, now having done this course, that is firmly in the past. Tim and his team were very welcoming , informative and extremely helpful. A wonderful day ! Pork and pastry is next.
