How Do I Choose Macarons for My Wedding? The Ultimate Guide

Choosing the perfect dessert for your big day is one of the exciting (and delicious) parts of wedding planning. But with so many flavours and display options, how do you settle on the right choice? From towers to favours, here is our expert guide on how to choose macarons for your wedding.

Whether you are looking for a show-stopping traditional wedding cake alternative or a personalised gift for your guests, macarons are a versatile wedding treat.

What macarons should I buy for a wedding?

This depends entirely on how you plan to serve them. We typically see three main ways macarons are used:

  1. A Macaron Tower: This is a spectacular focal point. Match you macarons to your colour scheme or add a pop of colour with a mix of our favourites. You can browse our Macaron Tower options here.
  2. Wedding Favours: A tiny, elegant box with 1, 2, or 3 macarons makes for a sophisticated and edible "thank you" gift at each place setting. Our Wedding Favours are explained here.
  3. The Dessert Table: If you’re having a grazing table or a dessert buffet, a mix of flavours allows guests to pick and choose. We suggest our Single Flavour Trays so you can choose a few different flavours.

Top Tip: Choose flavours that mean something to you as a couple. Do you both live and breathe coffee? Try our Cappuccino macarons. Did you get engaged in the summer? Strawberries & Cream is the perfect seasonal choice.

How many macarons do I need per person for a wedding?

This is the most common question we get. The quantity depends on the role the macarons are playing:

  • As a Wedding Cake Alternative: If macarons are the main dessert, we recommend 3 macarons per guest.
  • As part of a Dessert Table: If you have other cakes and treats available, 1 to 2 per guest is usually sufficient.
  • As Wedding Favours: Typically 2 macarons per person is the "sweet spot" for a favour box.

How do I match macarons to my wedding theme?

One of the reasons macarons are so popular for weddings is their aesthetic versatility.

  • Classic & Elegant: Opt for Vanilla or Rose for a timeless, neutral palette.
  • Pastel & Romantic: Soft pinks - Raspberry hearts, lilacs - Lavender, and mint greens - Pistachio.
  • Bold & Modern: Don’t be afraid of dark, rich tones like Dark Chocolate or vibrant Passionfruit to make a statement.

Top Tip: If you are unsure which flavours to choose, order a box from our Signature Range first so you can compare the colours or if you prefer you can pick your own selection box.

Can I personalise my wedding macarons?

Absolutely. We offer Personalised Macarons where you can add initials, dates, or even small motifs. This is a fantastic way to make your wedding favours feel truly bespoke. To buy a large number of this option please do get in touch with us and we can send you a quote based on your requirements.

We do offer bespoke colours and flavours, but only for large orders of 1,000 macarons or more. Please do get in touch to discus if it is something you are considering.

How should I store macarons on the wedding day?

Macarons are delicate and need to stored in the fridge and brought to room temperature about 20-30 minutes before serving. If you are having an outdoor summer wedding, keep them in a cool, shaded area until the last possible moment to ensure the ganaches and buttercreams stay perfectly set and don’t melt in the sun.

When should I place my order?

For large events and bespoke wedding favours, we recommend getting in touch at least 4 to 6 weeks in advance. This ensures we can secure your date and help you curate the perfect selection of flavours
